Location: Remote / Home-Based – Occasional Travel Across London, South East & South West
Contract: Permanent
Salary: Competitive Salary + Car/Car Allowance + Flexible Benefits
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Commercial Manager to join our Engineering division at NG Bailey, supporting a portfolio of technically challenging Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) projects across London, the South East and South West.
This can be a remote-based role, offering flexibility to work from home, with occasional travel required for client meetings and project engagements.
Working closely with our Pre-Construction Lead, you'll play a key role in managing the commercial aspects of multiple projects during their early stages, particularly throughout the Pre-Construction Services Agreement (PCSA) phase.
You'll be responsible for shaping commercial strategies, managing contractual risks and opportunities, and ensuring projects are commercially robust before transitioning into delivery.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working at the front end of projects, influencing key commercial decisions and building strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:-
Working alongside the Pre-Construction Lead to manage commercial activities across multiple projects during the PCSA and pre-construction stages.
-
Leading commercial negotiations, contract reviews and the development of commercial agreements ahead of project delivery.
-
Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities to protect project profitability.
-
Supporting project budgets, cost planning, financial forecasting and commercial strategies.
-
Providing commercial advice to senior management, pre-construction and operational teams.
-
Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders.
-
Ensuring a smooth commercial handover from pre-construction into project delivery, with clear contractual obligations and commercial controls in place.
We're looking for a commercially astute, proactive individual who enjoys working collaboratively and has the confidence to influence commercial decisions across multiple projects.
You'll ideally bring:
-
Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor, ideally within M&E or the wider construction industry.
-
Strong knowledge of NEC & JCT contracts, contractual negotiations and commercial risk management.
-
Experience working within pre-construction, PCSA or early contractor involvement environments.
-
Experience managing the commercial aspects of multiple projects simultaneously.
-
Strong financial awareness, including cost planning, forecasting and commercial reporting.
-
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
-
The ability to work independently in a remote environment, with flexibility to travel occasionally across London, the South East and South West.
Benefits:
- Pension with a leading provider and up to 8% employer contribution
- 25 days Annual Leave + Bank Holidays
- Salary sacrifice car scheme (Hybrid/Electric Vehicle)
- Personal Wellbeing and Volunteer Days
- Private Medical Insurance
- Free 24/7 365 Employee Assistance Program
- Flexible benefits including Dental Insurance, Gym Memberships, Travel Insurance, Tax Free Bikes
- Personal development programme
