NG Bailey are proud to be involved in the Hinkley Point C project based in Bridgwater, Somerset.  This is the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in Britain providing zero-carbon electricity for around six million homes. NG Bailey, the UK’s leading independent engineering and services business, are proud to be part of the MEH Alliance, a joint venture to deliver the mechanical, electrical and HVAC installation for the project. 

As we progress on the project and increase in delivery we are looking to appoint an Electrical Lead Planner who will be accountable for leading the Electrical Construction Planning team and coordinating electrical planning across the assigned programme/delivery area.

This is an integral leadership role within the electrical team working to ensure lookaheads are achievable and aligned with the overall programme milestones, providing clear visibility of construction readiness, interfaces, constraints and schedule risks to support safe, coordinated and predictable delivery.

This will be a permanent staff position with NG Bailey and the applicants will need to predominantly work from the Hinkley Point C site in Bridgwater. We do offer generous uplifts and allowances for working away from home.

 

Responsibilities

Key deliverables in this role are:

 

  • Lead and coordinate the Electrical Construction Planners, ensuring that all planning related activities are carried out in compliance with contractual obligations, internal processes and external legislation governing business operations
  • Arrange and facilitate integrated planning meetings, engaging with all relevant stakeholders to develop, agree and maintain the integrated electrical construction schedules. 
  • Coordinate electrical four-week lookaheads and contribute to the overall 16-week lookahead. 
  • Confirm activities entering the four-week window are sufficiently mature and ready for construction 
  • Ensure that progress and productivity is effectively monitored against project plan, produce clear reports for all stakeholders.
  • Perform time/risk analysis against programmes at regular intervals with the project/discipline leads.
  • Manage interfaces with mechanical, HVAC, civil and commissioning activities. 
  • Demonstrate appropriate health and safety leadership to ensure the safety first and foremost message is visible and alive throughout all activities.
  • Work closely with relevant project personnel and external customer in order to produce/ agree a contract baseline programme for the project.
  • Ensure that planning outputs/reports are produced for contract reviews. Support the operational teams in order to ascertain whether project targets are being achieved and jointly establish and agree any corrective measures where necessary.

 

Requirements

To be successful in this role you will have:

 

  • Considerable experience in a planning role on large MEP projects, preferably regulated environments, ideally nuclear sites.
  • Relevant MEP engineering qualifications, HNC/HND in an electrical field preferred.
  • Dedicated site experience working in a planning role
  • Extensive Primavera/Asta Powerproject knowledge
  • Ability to ascertain BPSS clearance to attend site

NG Bailey on the Hinkley Point C Project:

We are working across both Hinkley Point C units to deliver the infrastructure that will power the station and its operations, creating 1,000 jobs including many specialist engineers. Works include the design and installation of circa 76,000 cables totalling over 3,000km in length; over 180km of cable containment support systems; fire and environmental sealing; design and installation of earthing systems, and specialist packages associated with data acquisition and plant control.
