Summary

Join Freedom Networks as an HV Fitter and play a key part in upgrading and replacing substation assets across the North West. You’ll work hands‑on with plant, equipment and cabling to deliver safe, high‑quality installations for our DNO customers — and help keep the region’s power network reliable and future‑ready.

 

Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:

  • Install and replace substation plant and equipment, including multicores, earthing cables, containment, cabling and small wiring.
  • Carry out core electrical fitter duties, including:
    • Independent access to substations with live exposed conductors
    • Receiving permits to work
    • Supervising working parties
  • Maintain high standards of safety, workmanship and compliance.
  • Look after company tools and equipment, ensuring PAT/calibration requirements are met.
  • Promote best practice and contribute ideas for improvement and innovation.

What we’re looking for:

  • At least 2 years’ hands‑on experience using hand tools in a practical or craft environment.
  • Basic understanding of electrical or mechanical systems.
  • Site safety passport and/or experience working on CDM sites.
  • Manual handling awareness.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Work in or around High Voltage substations desirable
